Jane Iredale Mineral Cosmetics – I have been an advocate of Jane Iredale Mineral Cosmetics for many years but did not realise the full history of the brand. I am always intrigued and interested to hear when companies expand to what they are today, from that original lightbulb moment.
The Jane Iredale brand was originally founded in the US in May 1994 around the idea of making makeup that was healthy for your skin, and not bad for it. It was the first company to supply the beauty industry with a full line of make-up, based on minerals that would offer not just colour enhancement, but also benefits to the skin. This was achieved by working closely with leading plastic surgeons and dermatologists to develop the Jane Iredale products.
How it all began:
British-born Jane Iredale began her career in film, theatre, and television in the US, where she now lives. As a casting director and producer, Jane worked closely with actors struggling with problem skin brought on by the continued use of heavy stage makeup. This raised questions as to why can’t makeup be good for the skin?
Understanding organic food and the importance of natural products not only in your diet but also for your skin, as well as an understanding of make-up, Jane moved her career into the cosmetics business with her own distinctive brand.
Her previous experience working with people who depended on a clear complexion enabled her to understand how skin disorders and sensitivities cannot only threaten the careers of the stars but can also destroy any woman’s self-confidence. She wanted a make-up line designed to suit all skin colours and types and ensure everyone can enjoy healthy skin.
Her range started with a single product. The Amazing Base Loose Mineral Powder formulated with nourishing and protective ingredients revolutionised the beauty industry and was embraced by skin professionals as well as dermatologists and plastics surgeons who praised its ability to soothe, cover and protect, without feeling like you had applied makeup.
Free of known irritants and, perhaps more importantly, carefully crafted with skin-boosting ingredients, Amazing Base helped restore and protect skin without sacrificing performance.
Today, The Skincare Makeup boasts dozens of skin-loving beauty solutions for all skin types. The Jane Iredale brand proudly offers multiple lines of cruelty-free skincare and makeup products that you can use to keep your skin healthy while also looking your best.
The Skin Care Make-up combines up-to-date colours for every complexion or ethnicity in a formulation that offers serious skin-care benefits. The range is based on micronised minerals and made without fillers like talc and without chemical dyes or synthetic preservatives such as parabens and formaldehyde.
In addition, to providing the perfect make-up for everyday use, it also gives complete coverage for skin conditions like acne, rosacea and for redness following beauty treatments such as chemical peels and laser resurfacing. The make-up gives flawless, long-lasting coverage with minimal product application and without irritation.
Women Talking had the opportunity to try their Dream Tint® Tinted Moisturizer SPF 15
Formulated with lightweight minerals, this is a tinted moisturiser that not only hydrates and provides sheer to medium coverage but helps prevent trans-epidermal water loss. It helps to calm and soothe the skin as well as give a soft-focus effect that helps minimise the appearance of fine lines and enlarged pores.
For additional skin protection, the tinted moisturiser is water-resistant to 40 minutes and has an all-important SPF 15 broad-spectrum (UVA/UVB) sun protection.
Simple to use, just apply a pea-sized amount all over the face with Blending Brush or fingers, blending well. If you are looking for additional coverage, try applying powder foundation on top.
Having used this product numerous times, I am extremely pleased with the result and would certainly buy the product again. There has been no irritation and the results have been long-lasting as well as looking natural on my skin.
