Spiritual Well-being with Sound Healing

Improve your overall well-being by reducing stress and anxiety

Spiritual Well-being with Sound Healing – Sound healing is a holistic therapeutic immersive experience that uses sound waves and vibrations to promote physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being, focusing on the whole body.

It is based on the belief that sound can affect the human body, mind, and spirit at a cellular level, and can be used to balance and harmonise the body’s energy, alleviate stress and tension, and promote relaxation, clarity, and healing.

Sound healing can be conducted using various sound tools and instruments, such as singing bowls, gongs, drums, bells, tuning forks, and voice. The practitioner creates sound waves and vibrations that are believed to interact with the body’s energy fields, including the chakras and meridians, which gently allows your mind to enter a meditative state to help restore balance and promote healing.

This treatment can also help to improve your overall well-being by reducing stress and anxiety, improving sleeping patterns, releasing physical and emotional blockages, aiding the body to cleanse and release toxins, reducing anger and tension, lowering mood/ depression, and can help to ease chronic pain.

There are several different techniques/ types of sound healing. These include:

Chanting and Mantra Repetition –repeating mantras or affirmations to the beat of a drum or another instrument.

Singing Bowl Therapy –playing singing bowls to create specific vibrations that promote healing and relaxation.

Gong Baths –playing the gongs in a specific way to create deep relaxing vibrations.

Tuning Fork Therapy –using tuning forks to stimulate the body’s energy centres and promote healing.

Binaural Beats –listening to different frequencies in each ear to create a specific brainwave pattern which can promote relaxation, focus and deep meditation.

Having visited a couple of local sound healing sessions my overall experience of sound healing was euphoric. There was a mixture of Singing Bowl Therapy, Gong Baths, and Binaural Beats. I started off very anxious as I was in a new place surrounded by other people and their energies. However, when the session began, my breath and thoughts started to slow down, and I could feel myself beginning to settle. I could feel my Higher Self above my head at the beginning of the session which comforted me to knowing I was safe and in the right place.

When I first experienced sound healing not only was it incredibly relaxing, but it made me think back to my childhood and connect with my younger self. I heard certain sounds that I used to love to hear as a child which transported me to a simpler time.

I always remember how different instruments felt in my ears and the vibrations through my body that I was drawn to.

A few years ago, I received a Tibetan singing bowl as a gift. Every day since then, I have incorporated it into my daily spiritual practice. The first time I used it, I was amazed at how engrossed I was and how grounded I felt after a few minutes. I also really liked the sound of it – I was hooked!

Throughout the experience, I felt a lot of different sensations. I could physically feel all the unwanted and bad energies dripping out of my hands! It was so intense, but I loved it. I also got pins and needles in my hands and my feet. I felt very heavy which indicated how grounded I was. I also felt a swaying/ dancing motion which I thought was very interesting, perhaps I was matching the frequencies being played as I could really feel the vibrations throughout my body. I could also feel certain sounds/ vibrations in particular parts of my body and chakras. I found this very interesting because it was clear that different frequencies resonated with specific chakras/ areas of the body. I did have some visual images come up too such as the colours purple and orange as well as seeing the instruments being played. Every time the practitioner played an instrument, I could see it clearly even though my eyes were closed. The hour of bliss passed quickly and once the session was over it was great to see all the smiling faces and everybody feeling grateful for the experience, we all just shared. I felt very tired afterwards but above all incredibly satisfied and eager to learn more about this healing modality.

I will be returning soon to another sound bath session, and I would highly encourage others to as well. Whether it is in a group setting or an individual session I am sure sound healing will have a positive effect on anybody who tries it. Some people may have more intense experiences than others, but relaxation is guaranteed for all.
