What are the symptoms of Cystitis?

What are the symptoms of Cystitis? – Cystitis is typically the inflammation in your bladder that causes you to experience pain when you urinate and causes you to urinate more frequently than normal. An infection caused by bacteria is the root of the problem.

About Cystitis

Cystitis is a type of Urinary tract infection (UTI) that you get when the bacteria enter your bladder through your urethra. This bacterium drains the urine from the body and causes cystitis. Some 50% of the women witness this at some point in their life. There are many cystitis treatments available over the counter, including oral supplements and topical creams. It is important to consult with a healthcare professional like Access Doctor before starting any cystitis treatment to ensure safety and effectiveness.

Causes of Cystitis

The causes of cystitis vary from one another based on underlying conditions. Some of the budding elicits for cystitis are:

UTI

Intake of certain drugs

During sex

The dangers of radiation exposure

Products for personal hygiene that irritate

Being diabetic:

Weak immune system

Being pregnant

Check if it’s cystitis

Cystitis symptoms can manifest at any point in time and for any number of different reasons. If the severity of your symptoms is high, you might not be able to participate in the activities you normally enjoy.

There are a variety of other conditions that can cause these symptoms, particularly in people who are elderly or who smoke. They should start to get better after a few days, but if they don’t, you should make an appointment with your primary care physician.

Symptoms of cystitis include:

Burning, stinging, and hurting when you pee: you may feel like having severe burning and discomfort while peeing

Frequent urination: you may feel like peeing more often but end up passing very little to no urine.

Pain in the lower abdomen: during this infection, you may feel discomfort and pain in the lower tummy.

Low-Grade Fever: a sensation in the bladder, feeling of pressure, cramping comes along with the fever

Cloudy or dark-looking urine:  the urine becomes smelly, foul, and dark.

The hurtful feeling during sexual intercourse: you may feel that it hurts you down there when you have sexual intercourse and gives a feeling of uneasiness and discomfort

Tiredness and feeling of being unwell:  one of the symptoms is that it makes you feel lethargic and tired.

Blood in Urine: you may also experience blood in urine when the symptoms get serious.

Cystitis also affects mental health. People dealing with cystitis may also feel anxiety and depression.

Symptoms in children

Cystitis is very common among children and triggers a high-grade fever and loss of appetite. This condition can be caused by several factors, including the kidneys, the bladder, and constipation. If you think your child may have cystitis, the sooner you take them to the doctor, the better off you and your child will be. Cystitis in children has the potential to harm their kidneys if it is not treated in a timely manner.

Cystitis may also hit the children and they may feel the following symptoms:

Crankiness: with constant pain in the bladder, children tend to become cranky and touchy.

Weakness and touchiness: children who experience cystitis, may start to feel weak and find it difficult to keep the food down.

Wetting themselves: the children who usually don’t wet themselves, start wetting because of the infection and the pressure and pain they feel.

Urinary reflux: this symptom also shows up in children when the urine comes back to the body instead of leaving it while they pee.

High-grade fever: children experience high-grade fever during this infection which makes them uneasy, and they tend to lose appetite.

Symptoms in elderly people

After menopause, the tissues around a woman’s genital become more delicate and sensitive to infection from urine. This is especially true for women who have had children. In addition to this, the prolapse of either the uterus or the vagina can also make a person more susceptible to infection.

In males, however, an enlarged prostate gland can make it difficult for the bladder to empty all the way because of the obstruction it creates. This allows the urine to pool within the bladder, which in turn causes the bacteria to multiply and results in an infection due to the urine’s inability to move around.

Elderly people show the following symptoms:

Changes in their behaviour such as disordered or disturbed

Wetting themselves

Trembling and shivering

The symptoms may pop up out of nowhere and may cause serious uneasiness while you perform your regular activities. In the older, the symptoms may be the reason for some other health conditions also.

It is possible that the infection could be fatal if it spreads to the kidneys.

Infection of the kidneys can cause the following symptoms:

Biliousness

Unsettled stomach

Back and side pain

Apprehensions

Cystitis is not the only cause of fever and blood in the urine, but it is associated with other symptoms of kidney infection.

As a result, if you notice symptoms of cystitis in addition to those of a kidney infection, you should see a doctor.
