A Glimpse into Cornwall’s Hidden Treasures
Authentic Narratives and Local Lore – Each chapter is dedicated to a different village, capturing the unique stories and traditions that make each location special. From ancient legends to contemporary anecdotes, you will get a taste of the rich cultural tapestry that defines Cornwall.
Stunning Visuals and Descriptive Prose – The book is not just a narrative journey but a visual feast. Filled with vibrant photographs and detailed descriptions, “Cornish Villages Volume 2” paints a vivid picture of each village’s landscape, architecture, and daily life. Sandra’s descriptive prose allows you to visualise the quaint cottages, rugged coastlines, and verdant countryside that characterise Cornwall.
Comprehensive and Insightful – While the book is a sequel, it stands independently as a comprehensive guide to Cornwall’s villages. The in-depth research and insightful observations provide a thorough understanding of each village’s history and present-day charm. This makes it an invaluable resource for both first-time visitors and seasoned travellers looking to deepen their appreciation of Cornwall.
Personal Touch – Sandra’s personal connection to Cornwall shines through in her writing. Her love for the region is evident in the careful attention to detail and the warmth with which she describes the villages. This personal touch adds a layer of authenticity and intimacy to the reading experience, making it feel like a guided tour with a knowledgeable friend.
Practical Information for Travellers – Beyond the narratives and visuals, the book is also a practical guide for travellers. It includes useful tips on the best times to visit, local festivals, must-see landmarks, and recommendations for dining and accommodation. This practical aspect ensures that readers can not only dream about these beautiful villages but also plan their visits effectively.
Sandra Srivastava holds a Master of Arts degree in Cornish Studies and lives in Cornwall. Her first book, CornishVillages, was published in 2023. She has had travel articles published in print and online. She also writes fiction, including several prize-winning short stories. She is a former solicitor.
Sandra explains: “This book is a follow-up to Cornish Villages, published in 2023. There are so many beautiful and fascinating Cornish villages that it is impossible to pick out just a few for a single volume. Both were written to fill a gap in the market. There are huge numbers of books on Cornwall, but surprisingly few specifically on its villages, and none that fill the same purpose as Cornish Villages and Cornish Villages Volume 2. The books are intended to provide a brief introduction to some of the best places to visit in Cornwall, whether you live there or are visiting.”
Whether you’re a local resident or an international traveller, this book promises to enrich your understanding and appreciation of Cornwall’s unique heritage.
