Swiss Skincare with a Purpose: C-Derma by Céline Expands to the UK.
In the world of beauty and skincare, Switzerland has long been associated with purity, precision, and innovation. At the heart of this tradition stands C-Derma by Céline, a high-quality Swiss cosmetic line under the CBC label, known for its commitment to science-backed skincare and elegant simplicity. Today, we sit down with the visionary behind the brand—Céline, founder and driving force of C-Derma—to uncover the inspiration behind her skincare line, the values that shape her formulations, and how she’s redefining beauty routines with a touch of Swiss excellence.
Céline, you launched C-Derma while still studying for your master’s degree—what was it like juggling academia and launching a beauty brand, and what drove you to take that leap so early?
Launching C-Derma while I was still a master’s student was a real challenge, but also an incredibly rewarding experience. Balancing classes, academic projects, and building a brand forced me to become highly organised, to prioritise effectively, and to manage my time with discipline. It also gave me a strong sense of independence and a very concrete understanding of what entrepreneurship really involves — beyond what we learn theoretically at university.
What pushed me to take the leap so early was a mix of passion and opportunity. I had a deep desire to create products that reflected my values — authenticity and quality above all. I realised that if I waited for the ‘perfect moment,’ I might never actually start. Being a student provided a learning environment and a certain safety net that allowed me to dare, to experiment, and to build C-Derma with confidence and boldness.
CBD is central to your skincare line—what was it about the ingredient, and your research into it, that convinced you it had the potential to transform skincare for young people?
What immediately stood out to me about CBD was the richness of its benefits for the skin — particularly its soothing, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties. Through my research, I discovered that CBD is especially effective for addressing skin concerns that many young people face redness, blemishes, excess oil, and sensitivity.
What convinced me was not only the strength of early scientific studies and the many positive testimonials I encountered, but also a key observation: there were very few complete skincare lines based entirely on CBD on the market. The industry was still in its early stages.
I saw in CBD the opportunity not only to offer a natural, respectful solution for young skin, but also to be a pioneer by creating a full, coherent, and innovative range of skincare products centred around CBD
You’ve mentioned that existing CBD cosmetics didn’t meet your expectations in terms of packaging and scent. How did you approach designing a brand that felt luxurious, ethical, and also personally authentic?
When I looked into existing CBD-based cosmetic products, I was often disappointed: the packaging lacked elegance, the scents were not carefully crafted, and the overall experience didn’t match the high potential of such an exceptional ingredient.
From the very beginning with C-Derma, I wanted to create a brand that would be luxurious, ethical, and deeply authentic. I paid close attention to every detail: natural yet high-performing formulas, a clean and sophisticated design, delicate and sensory fragrances — all while ensuring responsible, eco-conscious manufacturing.
To me, modern luxury is no longer about excess; it’s about quality, sincerity, and commitment. Every C-Derma product had to embody my personal vision of beauty: a conscious, demanding, and deeply respectful beauty — both for the skin and for the planet.
What were some of the biggest challenges you faced in formulating a range that combined both CBD and hyaluronic acid, and how did you ensure it stayed true to your vision of clean and effective skincare?
One of the biggest challenges was finding the right balance between efficacy, naturalness, and formula stability. Combining CBD — a relatively sensitive molecule — with hyaluronic acid, which has very specific formulation requirements, required a lot of precision. We had to ensure that each ingredient retained its full properties without compromising texture, sensorially, or product preservation.
I worked closely with specialised Swiss laboratories to develop formulas that meet the highest beauty standards.
Throughout the process, my priority remained clear: to create skincare that is safe, high-performing, pleasurable to use, and fully aligned with my values of authenticity and respect for both the skin and the environment.
As a young founder and a beauty visionary, what advice would you give to others looking to start a brand that blends science, nature, and ethics?
My first piece of advice would be to stay true to your vision, even when faced with challenges. The path of entrepreneurship is often full of obstacles, but it is that vision that must guide every step, every decision. It is essential to have a deep understanding of the ingredients you use, to surround yourself with the right people, and to always strive to bring real added value to your consumers.
Bringing together science, nature, and ethics is not a compromise; it’s a philosophy. You have to be ready to challenge traditional methods, to constantly seek innovative solutions, and to ensure that every choice — both in formulation and in business practices — respects the environment and human beings.
Finally, I would advise never to underestimate the importance of patience and perseverance. Launching a brand that carries strong values takes time, but every step is a learning experience. Stay passionate and authentic, and success will naturally follow.
