Marilyn Monroe at 100? London Pop-Up Celebrates a Timeless Icon.
There are few names in popular culture that remain instantly recognisable decades after their passing, but Marilyn Monroe is undoubtedly one of them. While she may never have reached her 100th birthday, the enduring fascination with the Hollywood legend shows no sign of fading.

This summer, luxury Champagne house Piper-Heidsieck has found a unique way to honour what would have been Marilyn’s centenary year with an immersive pop-up experience in London’s Covent Garden and having recently visited, I can honestly say it is one of the most creative brand collaborations I have seen in a long time.
For ten days only, Covent Garden’s East Piazza has been transformed into a celebration of Marilyn’s life, style and legacy. Visitors are invited to step into a world inspired by the actress, complete with photographic installations, exclusive tastings and beautifully curated displays that pay tribute to one of Hollywood’s most iconic stars.
What struck me most was the concept itself. Rather than creating a traditional exhibition, Piper-Heidsieck has cleverly merged the worlds of Champagne, fashion, film and nostalgia into an experience that feels both glamorous and accessible. Marilyn Monroe’s connection to the brand is well documented, making the partnership feel authentic rather than manufactured.
One of the highlights is the striking installation featuring Marilyn’s iconic beauty mark positioned directly onto the grass, encouraging visitors to photograph themselves as part of the artwork. It is playful, interactive and perfectly suited to the social media age while still honouring the timeless appeal of Monroe herself.

The pop-up also showcases pieces from Piper-Heidsieck’s new Marilyn Monroe Collection, including limited-edition bottles inspired by the star. The collection reflects Monroe’s elegance, confidence and enduring influence on popular culture, bringing together luxury and storytelling in a way that feels genuinely special.
Of course, no tribute to Marilyn Monroe would be complete without acknowledging her influence beyond the silver screen. More than sixty years after her death, she continues to inspire fashion, beauty and popular culture around the world. Her image remains instantly recognisable, yet there is something about this celebration that goes beyond the familiar photographs and famous quotes. It captures the sense of glamour and aspiration that she embodied.
Piper-Heidsieck’s relationship with Marilyn Monroe dates back to the 1950s and 1960s, when she famously declared: “I go to bed with a few drops of Chanel No. 5. What do I wear in bed? Why, Chanel No. 5, of course.” Her affection for Piper-Heidsieck was less widely known but equally genuine, making this collaboration feel like a fitting tribute to a long-standing connection.
The limited-edition collection includes a Marilyn Monroe Cuvée Brut bottle released in honour of what would have been her 100th birthday, alongside a specially designed gift box inspired by her signature style.
As someone who visited the pop-up, I found myself admiring not only the displays but also the thinking behind the event. In an age where pop-up experiences can sometimes feel superficial, this one manages to celebrate a cultural icon while creating something memorable and engaging for visitors.
Whether you’re a lifelong Marilyn Monroe admirer, a fan of Champagne, or simply looking for something a little different in London, this Covent Garden experience is well worth exploring.
After all, icons like Marilyn Monroe come along only once in a generation and celebrating what would have been her 100th year with a touch of sparkle feels entirely appropriate.
