Celebrating World Bee Day with Three Bee-Loving Brands

Sweet as Honey

Sweet as Honey: Celebrating World Bee Day with Three Bee-Loving Brands.

As World Bee Day approaches on 20th May, it’s a wonderful opportunity to pause and give thanks to the tiny but mighty creatures quietly working behind the scenes to keep our planet thriving — the bees.

These little pollinators, with their busy buzz and fuzzy stripes, are much more than just a symbol of summer. Bees are vital for our ecosystem, playing a huge role in pollinating flowering plants and ensuring food crops grow — from the apples in your fruit bowl to the lavender blooming in your garden. And yet, their world is under increasing threat. Climate change, pesticides, habitat loss, and invasive species are making life harder for bees — and that should matter to us all.

That’s why we’re delighted to see three thoughtful brands — Gnaw Chocolate, Hive Mind Mead & Brew Co., and Scottish Bee Company — joining forces to raise awareness and support for our bees. All through May, they’re offering a 15% discount on their bee-inspired products as a way to celebrate World Bee Day and give back to these unsung heroes of nature.

Here’s what’s on offer:
Gnaw Chocolate’s Bee Happy and Honeycomb & Caramel bars — delicious, feel-good treats made with love and care.
Hive Mind Mead & Brew Co.’s refreshing honeyades — a modern take on mead, lightly sparkling and naturally sweet.
Scottish Bee Company’s heavenly honey-sweetened chocolate spread — indulgent, smooth, and sweetened by nature.

Behind these sweet treats lies a serious message. Did you know that 75% of the world’s flowering plants and 35% of our food crops depend on pollinators like bees? In the UK, we only produce around 14% of our own honey needs — though encouragingly, that number is growing year on year. Still, there’s a long way to go, and now more than ever, our bees need a helping hand.

What Can We Do To Help?

Try ‘No Mow May’
If you have a garden, consider leaving a patch wild this month. Weeds and wildflowers offer crucial food for pollinators when other sources are scarce — especially during spring’s busy bee season.

Be Swarm-Aware
May is also the time when bees swarm, looking for new homes as their colonies grow. If you spot a swarm, don’t panic — and definitely don’t call a pest controller! Reach out to a local beekeeper who can safely relocate the bees.

Support Those Supporting the Bees
Buying from beekeepers and brands that genuinely care about pollinators helps ensure a future for UK bees. Whether it’s a jar of local honey or a bar of bee-friendly chocolate, your purchase makes a difference.

To make it even sweeter, use the code WORLDBEEDAY (on selected lines) throughout May at:

World Bee Day also honours the birthday of Anton Janša, a Slovenian pioneer of modern beekeeping. It’s a lovely reminder that beekeeping is as much about tradition and care as it is about science and sustainability.

So let’s celebrate our pollinating friends — not just with awareness, but with action. Whether you’re letting your lawn grow wild or treating yourself to a honey-kissed delight, every small gesture adds up.

Because when we care for bees, we care for the earth — and each other.
