Laughing With Nature: The Nikon Comedy Wildlife Awards Come to FRAMELESS London
91 hilarious wildlife photographs, seven immersive habitats and a decade of nature’s funniest moments, the Nikon Comedy Wildlife Awards are coming to FRAMELESS this autumn.
If you’re looking for something a little different to brighten up your autumn, FRAMELESS London is about to give us 91 very good reasons to smile.
From 12 September 2026, the Nikon Comedy Wildlife Awards will take over FRAMELESS’ Blank Canvas Gallery with a brand-new immersive experience celebrating ten years of some of the funniest, most unexpected and downright adorable moments captured in the natural world.
And we have to admit, this is one we’re particularly looking forward to visiting.
The Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards have been bringing together hilarious wildlife photography since 2015, using humour as a way of encouraging people to look differently at the natural world and, importantly, think about wildlife conservation. Thousands of photographs are entered into the competition every year, capturing animals at their most expressive, surprising and wonderfully human-like.
Now, for the first time, a decade of these photographs is being brought together in an immersive format at FRAMELESS.
Step Inside the Photographs
Rather than simply viewing the images on a gallery wall, visitors will find themselves surrounded by them.
The 15-minute experience features 91 of the best and funniest photographs from the first ten years of the Nikon Comedy Wildlife Awards, presented across seven different natural habitats.
Expect surprised seals and sassy penguins on the shoreline, bewildered bears and chortling mice in the forest, dancing monkeys and ninja-like prairie dogs across the grasslands – all brought to life on a much larger scale.
Spatial sound will add another dimension to the experience, with everything from breaking waves to the quiet sounds of the forest floor helping to recreate the environments in which the original photographs were captured.
It promises to be playful, unexpected and, quite simply, a lot of fun.
More Than Just a Laugh
While the photographs are designed to make us smile, there is a serious message behind the laughter.
The Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards were created with wildlife conservation at their heart. By showing the personality, behaviour and individuality of animals, the competition hopes to encourage a greater appreciation of the natural world and highlight why protecting biodiversity matters.
Each year, the Awards support a grassroots conservation organisation, and in 2026 they are working with the Born Free Foundation, which campaigns to prevent the suffering and exploitation of wild animals and protect threatened species around the world.
It is a clever combination: make people laugh, make them connect with the animals they see, and perhaps make them care a little more about protecting them.
A Decade of Unforgettable Wildlife
The FRAMELESS experience arrives as the Awards celebrate their tenth anniversary and just ahead of the announcement of the 2026 finalists in October.
Some of the photographers whose work features include previous competition winners and highly commended photographers, with images such as Milko Marchetti’s unforgettable Stuck Squirrel, Angela Bohlke’s Red Fox Hunting and George Cathcart’s WTF among the photographs being brought into the immersive experience.
And if you’ve visited FRAMELESS before, you’ll know that this is an interesting departure from the historic masterpieces that usually fill its galleries.
Since opening in London in 2022, FRAMELESS has become known for transforming art into an immersive, multi-sensory experience. Its four permanent galleries bring works by artists including Monet, Van Gogh, Dalí, Canaletto and Rembrandt to life through huge-scale projections, sound and interactive technology.
The Nikon Comedy Wildlife Awards residency will sit within the Blank Canvas Gallery, which has previously been used for exclusive and ambitious collaborations.
We’re Going to See It for Ourselves
This is exactly the sort of London experience we love at Women Talking – something that combines art, technology, photography and a good dose of fun, while also leaving you thinking about something beyond the experience itself.

Our Verdict – For Now
We haven’t experienced the exhibition yet, so we’re saving our final verdict until we’ve walked into the world of the Comedy Wildlife Awards ourselves.
But the combination of extraordinary wildlife photography, immersive technology and plenty of humour certainly has our attention.
