Alice Immersive Wonderland: Step Down the Rabbit Hole in London – There are some stories that never really grow old, and Alice in Wonderland is certainly one of them. More than 160 years after Lewis Carroll first took readers down the rabbit hole, the wonderfully strange world of Wonderland is about to be brought to life in a completely new way.
This November, Alice Immersive Wonderland will make its world premiere at Dock X in Canada Water, London, inviting visitors to quite literally step inside Alice’s extraordinary world.
And this isn’t simply a case of watching the story unfold in front of you. Across an impressive 26,000 sq. ft., visitors will journey through 10 immersive spaces, with live actors, theatrical storytelling, projection mapping and multi-sensory environments combining to create a 120-minute adventure through Wonderland.
And Women Talking will be heading down the rabbit hole to experience it for ourselves.
Welcome to Wonderland
The journey begins with the Rabbit Hole, taking visitors into a world where perceptions shift, scales change and reality becomes wonderfully blurred.
From there, curiosity leads the way through a series of extraordinary spaces, including the mind-bending Doors Room and the Den of the Caterpillar, where visitors are confronted with that wonderfully Alice-like question: Who are you?
The Rabbit House brings another familiar moment to life as Alice changes size, before the journey continues into the Forest of the Cheshire Cat.
Then comes the Mad Tea Party – and we suspect this could be one of the highlights. The famous table comes alive with illusions and characters caught in an endless loop of madness, creating a suitably surreal take on one of Wonderland’s most memorable scenes.
Along the way, visitors will also encounter Curiosity Keys, a series of narrative interludes hosted by English comedian, writer and broadcaster Paul Taylor, offering insights into Alice’s world.
Meet the Queen
Of course, no trip to Wonderland would be complete without an encounter with the Queen of Hearts.
In the Queen’s Court, visitors will meet the Queen’s eccentric servants, brought to life by live actors, before taking part in a game of chess and even Flamingolf. The journey eventually leads to the Queen’s iconic throne.
From here, Lewis Castle takes a step back from the fantasy to explore the story behind Alice in Wonderland, the life of Lewis Carroll and the extraordinary cultural legacy of his work.
The experience finishes in the Hall of Dreams, where monumental 360° projection mapping creates a spectacular finale, bringing Alice’s journey to an emotional conclusion and exploring that ever-changing line between imagination and reality.
Fancy a very curious tea party?
There is also the opportunity to extend your visit with The Alice Tea Party, an immersive tea room inspired by Wonderland and its unforgettable characters.
Expect themed culinary creations including cakes representing a white rabbit, a red rose and a mushroom – because if you’re going to have afternoon tea in Wonderland, a plate of ordinary cakes simply wouldn’t do.
Something for all ages
What I particularly like about the idea behind Alice Immersive Wonderland is that it isn’t designed simply as something to look at. Visitors are encouraged to use their imagination, follow their curiosity and become part of the story.
Produced by French company Cités Immersives with Rivaj Group / Encore Prod, and working alongside London-based promoter FKP Scorpio Entertainment UK Ltd, the production has also been developed with English Literature specialists Professor Robert Douglas-Fairhurst and Lawrence Gasquet, who formed part of an Expert Advisory Committee during its creation.
Opening just before the festive season gets into full swing, it sounds like the kind of experience that could work equally well for a family day out, a group of friends or anyone who has ever fancied disappearing down the rabbit hole for a couple of hours.

Tickets are priced from £26 for adults and £19 for children aged 4+, with family tickets from £20 per person when booked for groups of 4–6. Booking fees apply.
