The Secret to Organizing an Amazing Party Every Single Time – There are many people who like the idea of being seen as a great party host. It is a nice status to have. When people talk about your parties, they often discuss the amazing things that supposedly happened there. Many of these gatherings go down in history and become legends in your friend circle.
What is the secret to organizing an amazing party every time, though? Is it just putting up some permanent Christmas lights or buying the right kind of dip for the chips? You could make those arguments, but in reality, there is one thing you can do to make sure you have a party every time that everyone who attends thoroughly enjoys.
We will talk about that in detail right now.
Make a Perfect Party List and Modify It By Trial and Error
Most great party planners talk about the list they make as they are planning their parties. What does this list consist of?
For most people, it is a list of everything they feel should go into a great party, assuming these items are within their power to achieve. Obviously, if you only have a limited amount of money to spend on a party, then you can’t hire Snoop Dogg to give a performance.
Within reason, the secret to a great party is to create a list and then check off all the boxes. You can modify that list as you get older and become more experienced throwing parties. While no two lists are going to be exactly the same, there are guaranteed to be universalities about them. Let’s talk about what should almost always be on your list.
Who Do You Want to Invite?
Every party starts with the guest list, or it should, if it’s going to be successful. As the host, you don’t want to have anyone there who you don’t like. If you don’t enjoy spending time with a particular person, then inviting them makes little sense.
You should also think about whether anyone in your friend group is feuding or whether there are two individuals who just don’t like each other for some reason. If you know there are any grudges of that nature, then only invite one of these two individuals, or else don’t invite either one.
You do not want to make everyone else at the gathering uncomfortable by having two people there with bad blood between them.
Give Each Party a Theme
It’s helpful to give every party a theme as well. You can have a party for virtually any reason, but if you come up with a specific theme and tell all of the guests about it, that is one huge step toward making the event memorable.
If you’re having a party that is connected to a holiday, like Christmas, you might make it an ugly sweater party. If you’re having a gathering around Halloween, then making it a costume party makes sense.
Themes make parties memorable. If you remember that, and you have friends, neighbors, or relatives who are enthusiastic about such things, then that’s another step in the right direction.
Make Sure the Food and Drinks Are Right
Nobody likes going to a party where the food and drinks are inadequate. If you know how to cook, then you can make some food for the party. However, if you’re going to have a large gathering and you feel like it would be too time consuming to cook that much food, then getting the event catered makes more sense.
Start by setting out snacks like pretzels, chips, dip, etc. A little later, you can move on to pizza, wings, or something else that you feel confident everyone will like. You will certainly not want anyone at the party to be hungry.
You will probably want to have alcohol at your party. Nothing says you have to drink, but many people associate social drinking with gatherings of this nature.
You will want to have a well-stocked bar, mixers, ice, a cooler of beer, etc. Since liquor can get expensive quickly, it’s probably best to get bottom-shelf booze that can be used to make mixed drinks relatively cheaply.
You should also make sure to have a few designated drivers. You don’t want anyone driving home drunk, or your party might get some attention for all the wrong reasons.
Make Sure the Music and the Lighting Are Appropriate
Think about what music you will want to have at the party as well. You might like all kinds of music, but you probably realize that sad or downbeat tunes will put everyone in a melancholy mood.
Instead, try to pick albums, bands, and songs that will put people in a festive mood. Then, start the playlist when people arrive.
Nobody likes too many bright lights at a party. Turn the lights down when people arrive. If you have dimmer switches, those work great. You might also consider screwing in different-colored light bulbs to create an eerie or mysterious effect if you feel that the party calls for it.
Consider Having an Activity
If you like, you can also consider having a fun activity for people to do who are into that sort of thing. You might get a professional mixologist to come and give a cocktail-mixing class. You may rent a karaoke machine if you have some aspiring singers among your friends.
Maybe you will have some board games that people like to play. Something like Twister or Operation is always a crowd-pleaser.
This combination is usually what is required if you want to have a great party every time. If you check off everything on the list, then it’s almost certain that people will enjoy themselves, and they will certainly want to come to your next gathering.
The more you learn about what your friend group likes, the more you can modify this list. By doing so, you will learn to have parties that are better geared toward the people with whom you like to spend your time.
