The Pegasus Afternoon Tea at Brasserie of Light – A Dazzling Take on a British Classic.
There’s something quite special about pausing for afternoon tea – it feels like time slows down for a couple of hours, giving you space to savour the moment. At Women Talking, we’re always on the lookout for experiences that combine tradition with a touch of glamour, and Brasserie of Light’s brand-new Pegasus Afternoon Tea ticks every box.
Launched this September inside the ever-stylish Selfridges, it’s the restaurant’s first afternoon tea offering – and it’s a beauty. From the moment the silver tray arrives, topped with Pegasus himself, it feels like you’re part of something indulgent, elegant, and just a little bit theatrical.
The savouries are a refined twist on teatime classics: smoked salmon with cream cheese on rye, a fluffy egg and cress croissant, and the star of the show – a truffle chicken brioche finished with freshly grated truffle that’s as decadent as it sounds. Warm fruited scones follow, with clotted cream, strawberries, and strawberry preserve – a comforting nod to tradition that instantly made us smile.
And then comes the patisserie – the moment we’d been waiting for. Each miniature creation feels like a jewel: a creamy strawberry, vanilla and white chocolate cheesecake, a tropical coconut and rum panna cotta, indulgent chocolate bubbles with brownie, a raspberry almond macaron, and a raspberry & pistachio cupcake that was almost too pretty to eat (but of course, we did).
Drinks are equally well thought-out. You can keep it classic with Earl Grey or Breakfast Blend, branch out with delicate Jasmine Pearls, or even opt for barista coffees or hot chocolate. For those who enjoy a little sparkle, we highly recommend adding a glass of G.H. Mumm Champagne – it turns teatime into a true celebration.
Available daily from 3pm, the Pegasus Afternoon Tea is the perfect way to add a little magic to your week – whether you’re meeting friends, marking an occasion, or simply treating yourself. Sitting beneath Damien Hirst’s 24ft Pegasus sculpture while indulging in such delights is a memory in itself.
Afternoon tea has always been about more than just food – it’s about atmosphere, ritual, and indulgence. Brasserie of Light manages to capture all of this and add a splash of glamour that feels entirely their own. We left feeling spoiled, uplifted, and already planning our next visit.
