Step Into Downton Elegance with The Ivy – This autumn, The Ivy Collection invites diners to experience a taste of cinematic grandeur as it launches The Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale at The Ivy – a limited-edition menu inspired by the release of Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale, arriving in cinemas on 12th September.
From 3rd September, guests across The Ivy Collection’s restaurants nationwide* will be able to step back in time to the elegance and refinement of the 1930s, reimagined with The Ivy’s signature modern flair. Think comfort, class, and a touch of theatrical indulgence – perfectly echoing the spirit of the beloved Crawley family and their timeless estate.
A Menu Worthy of the Abbey
Priced at £27.95 for two courses or £34.95 for three, the menu takes inspiration from the tastes and traditions of the period, blending heritage with a contemporary twist.
Starters include classics such as Severn & Wye Smoked Salmon, elegantly served with brown bread, lemon, and butter – a dish that could have graced the Abbey’s drawing rooms. For a lighter beginning, the Salade Du Verger brings together figs, pecans, red chicory and whipped feta with a truffle vinaigrette, showcasing the era’s love of seasonal garden produce.
Mains celebrate British favourites with The Ivy’s signature touch. The comforting Shepherd’s Pie, slow-braised with lamb and beef, rosemary, red wine, and crowned with Cheddar mash, is one of my all-time favourites – the ultimate dish for when you want something that feels both indulgent and nostalgic. For a lighter or meat-free option, the Garden Vegetable Curry balances British and international flavours, while the Grilled Lemon Sole on the Bone delivers delicate luxury with beurre noisette, capers and lemon. More indulgent options include Braised Duck Curry and a 21 Day Aged Sirloin Steak with peppercorn sauce – both rich, refined, and evocative of grand dinners past.
No evening at Downton would be complete without a showstopping dessert. Choose from The Ivy Chocolate Dome, filled with honeycomb and caramel sauce, the flambéed Orchard Apple Tart with Calvados, or the classic Caramelised Crème Brûlée – another one of my personal favourites, with its crisp sugar crust giving way to silky, creamy custard.
A Toast to Timeless Elegance
For those wishing to elevate the experience, The Ivy Guest Champagne offers the perfect celebratory sip. Alternatively, indulge in the limited-edition Gilded Peach Cobbler cocktail – a 1930s-inspired creation of sloe gin, Crème de Pêche, Beesou honey aperitif and pineapple syrup, topped with Champagne. It’s a glass of golden glamour worthy of Lady Mary herself.
Sean Burbidge, Executive Chef at The Ivy Collection, says:
“It’s been a pleasure to collaborate with the cinema release of Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale on this special menu. We’ve taken inspiration from the film’s characters, 1930s flavours, and even dishes once served at The Original Ivy. From rich, comforting classics to refined favourites, our aim is to transport guests into the world of Downton with all the charm, nostalgia, and indulgence that entails.”
Whether you’re a long-time fan of Downton Abbey or simply in search of a dining experience steeped in history, luxury and charm, this beautifully curated menu offers a taste of life upstairs – no inheritance required.
