The Green Co: Small Swaps, Big Difference – Every so often, I come across a brand that feels like it’s truly doing something meaningful — not just for our homes, but for the wider world too. That’s exactly how I felt when I discovered The Green Co.
Their story is such an inspiring one. Back in 2018, a group of school students came together to create homemade products designed to cut down on single-use plastic. What started as part of the Young Enterprise scheme quickly grew into something much bigger. Despite not winning the competition, they believed in their idea enough to keep going.
Of course, life had other plans. They had a summer of events lined up when Covid hit, cancelling everything overnight. With just a few hundred pounds left in the bank, things could have easily ended there. Instead, they turned to online sales — and what a turning point that was!
Their eco-friendly range became a hit, and before long, the business was thriving. Operations moved to Dundee when founder Emilio started university there, and The Green Co. launched what would become their star product: Laundry Detergent GreenSheets™. Customers loved them, and the brand’s community began to grow. With Hannah joining as Creative Director, the products got a fresh new look, and the range expanded to include the UK’s first fabric conditioner sheets, Cleaning Spray GreenTabs™, Dishwasher GreenTabs™, and more recently, Hand Soap GreenTabs™.
I had the chance to try both the Eco Laundry Detergent GreenSheets™ and the Foaming Hand Soap, and I was genuinely impressed. They’re easy to use, effective, and just feel like the right kind of everyday change we should all be making. No bulky plastic bottles, no wasteful packaging — just products that do the job while being kind to the planet.
Why Eco-Friendly Choices Matter
For me, being eco-friendly isn’t about being perfect — it’s about the small swaps we can make in our day-to-day lives. Choosing products that reduce plastic waste and avoid harsh chemicals doesn’t just protect the environment; it makes our homes safer and healthier too. And when we support independent brands like The Green Co., we’re also encouraging more innovation and creativity in how we approach sustainability.
What I love most about The Green Co. is their simple mission: “Let us Make Cleaning Better for your Family, Home & Planet.” It’s a reminder that looking after the planet doesn’t have to be complicated — sometimes it’s as easy as switching your detergent or trying a new hand soap.
Their journey from a school project to a thriving eco-business is proof that with passion and persistence, small beginnings can grow into something remarkable. For me, it’s a brand that makes “being green” feel not only achievable, but enjoyable.
If you’re looking to make small, eco-friendly changes in your own home, I’d highly recommend taking a look at The Green Co.’s range — they might just make your cleaning routine a little kinder to your family, your home, and the planet.
