Healthy Snacking Made Simple – Why I’ve Fallen for The Protein Ball Co.
I’ll admit it — I’m a bit of a grazer. Whether I’m on the go, working at my desk, or just fancying a little something between meals, I’m often reaching for a snack. But like many of us, I’ve become more aware of how easily those “innocent” snack choices can tip into the ultra-processed category and with that comes the sugar spikes, crashes, and cravings that follow.
That’s why discovering The Protein Ball Co. has been such a revelation.

I first picked up a bag out of curiosity (and maybe a touch of scepticism, after all, how exciting can a protein snack really be?). But from the first bite, I was sold. Each flavour was deliciously moreish, not too sweet, not artificial, and satisfyingly filling. They’ve quickly become my go-to for those mid-morning pick-me-ups, and I always have a pack tucked away in my handbag when out and about.
Back in 2015, founders Matt and Hayley Hunt had one mission: to shake up snacking. At the time, protein products were having their moment, but many were, let’s be honest, pretty joyless, bland, chalky, and often packed with unnecessary ingredients. So, they started making protein balls that not only fuelled your body but actually tasted good. Fast-forward to today, and over 30 million bags later, The Protein Ball Co. is still rolling strong.
Their motto, “Ballsy by Nature,” perfectly sums up their ethos, bold, brave, and honest. They don’t do cardboard “health snacks” or gimmicky claims. Each bite is made with 100% natural ingredients — think crunchy peanuts, juicy blueberries, cacao, and zesty lemon with no added sugar, syrups, or artificial sweeteners. The sweetness comes naturally from fruit like dates and raisins.
It’s refreshing to find a brand that focuses on real ingredients, especially when sugar can be so sneaky. We all know about the obvious culprits — cakes, biscuits, sweets — but sugar also hides in many “healthy” products like breakfast cereals, protein bars, flavoured yoghurts, and even those “low-fat” options that seem virtuous until you read the label.
The result? Energy highs and lows, increased cravings, mood swings, disrupted sleep, and over time, more serious health issues. Reducing added sugar is one of the simplest ways to feel better fast and for me, swapping to snacks like The Protein Ball Co. has made that so much easier.

Each pack is under 200 calories and provides up to 10g of protein, meaning you stay fuller for longer without the crash. I’m particularly fond of their Peanut Butter, Cacao + Orange, and Salted Caramel flavours but with nine bold options across four ranges Original, Plant-Based, High Fibre and Low Sugar, there’s something for every taste.
So, if you’re looking to clean up your snack game without compromising on flavour, I’d highly recommend giving The Protein Ball Co. a try. They prove that healthy snacking doesn’t have to be boring, it can be ballsy, natural, and seriously tasty.
Because when it comes to looking after yourself, sometimes it’s the little choices, like what’s in your snack drawer, that make the biggest difference.
