A Sip of Summer: Asda Unveils 7 New Wines We’ll Be Pouring All Season.
There’s something undeniably joyful about choosing the right wine for the right moment. Whether it’s something chilled for an afternoon in the garden, or a bold red for a summer BBQ, the right bottle can elevate any occasion. That’s why we were thrilled to hear that Asda has just released seven new wine lines for summer—and trust us, they’re worth raising a glass to!
Here at Women Talking, we love discovering accessible yet exceptional wines, especially when they bring something new to the table. Asda’s latest additions to its Wine Atlas and Exceptional by Asda ranges are packed with personality, flavour, and global flair—all at prices that won’t break the bank.
A World of Wine Without Leaving the Supermarket Aisle
The Wine Atlas collection is designed to take your taste buds on a global tour, highlighting lesser-known grape varieties and emerging wine regions—perfect for adventurous palates looking to explore beyond the usual. All three new additions come in under £8, making them an easy choice for summer sipping.
One standout is the Wine Atlas Garda Sparkling Wine (£6.97), already tipped to be the next prosecco. Crisp and refreshing with notes of white peach and Mirabelle plum, it’s made using the same Charmat method that gives prosecco its signature sparkle. Sourced from Italy’s Lake Garda region, this bottle is a sunshine-filled sparkler ideal for seafood, white meats or summer salads—and a must-have for garden parties.
The Wine Atlas Cinsault (£6.97) is a velvety South African red with juicy cherry and subtle spice. It’s light enough to chill and enjoy al fresco—a fantastic pairing for grilled veggies, chicken skewers or a light BBQ plate.
And for white wine lovers, the Wine Atlas Albariño (£7.97) brings a New Zealand twist to this traditionally Spanish grape. With bright citrus, melon, and a hint of lime, this mineral-driven white is perfect for seafood and grilled dishes.
Asda’s Exceptional range continues to impress with four standout new wines, each with its own character and charm.
The Exceptional White Burgundy (£11.13) blends creamy, unoaked Chardonnay with a touch of barrel-aged richness, offering a wine that’s both elegant and versatile. Awarded an IWSC Silver Medal, this is a go-to for roast chicken, Caesar salad, or buttery garlic prawns.
From Austria, the Exceptional Grüner Veltliner (£8.12) is light, crisp and aromatic, with flavours of green apple, peach and guava, plus a hint of spice. It’s a brilliant match for Asian dishes or summery salads.
The Exceptional Grillo (£6.92) from Sicily brings a refreshing taste of the Med with notes of citrus, Mirabelle plum, wildflowers and herbs. Think grilled white meats, fish with lemon, or anything herby from the barbecue.
Finally, the Exceptional Cahors Malbec (£7.47) is a bold new red full of plummy fruit, depth, and a savoury edge. With its structure and richness, it’s an ideal pairing for steaks, burgers and hearty summer fare.
Not only are these new wines flavourful and affordable, but Asda has the credentials to back them up. The supermarket recently topped the Decanter World Wine Awards with the most gold medals of any UK supermarket and claimed 155 medals at the International Wine Challenge.
All seven wines are available now in stores and online, so whether you’re planning a picnic, barbecue or just a relaxed evening with friends, this summer’s wine list is looking delightfully easy to love.
