Bel Nada: The Swiss Alcohol-Free Aperitif Brand Redefining Apéro Culture in the UK.

There’s something undeniably romantic about the ritual of an apéritif. The clink of glasses, the golden-hour atmosphere, the small plates and conversation, a moment of pause that feels indulgent, social, and distinctly European.

But as more people embrace mindful drinking, the desire for that ritual is no longer tied to alcohol. Instead, the modern drinker wants flavour, sophistication, and experience… without compromise.

Bel Nada: The Swiss Alcohol-Free Aperitif Brand

That’s where Bel Nada comes in.

A premium Swiss-born alcohol-free aperitif brand, Bel Nada is launching in the UK with a collection of botanical spirits designed for those who want to drink consciously, while still enjoying the beauty and ceremony of apéro culture.

A Brand Born from Sober Curiosity

Bel Nada was created by founder Rebecca Coombe, following her own journey of becoming sober curious and re-evaluating her relationship with alcohol. What started as a personal lifestyle shift soon revealed a wider issue: the alcohol-free options available felt limited, often lacking complexity, elegance, and that sense of “occasion” that comes with a well-made drink.

Rebecca tells Women Talking:
It wasn’t one single moment; it was more of a slow realisation. I’d been living in Switzerland, enjoying the social side of life, the apéros, the dinner parties, the après-ski. But I started noticing how often alcohol was the default, and how rarely I actually felt better for it. I’d wake up after a social evening feeling flat, foggy, and a little disconnected from myself. At the same time, I was becoming more focused on how I wanted to feel, not just physically, but mentally. I wanted to be present, to enjoy the ritual of having a beautiful drink without the aftermath. When I started looking for alternatives that felt genuinely elevated, not juice, not soda, I couldn’t find them. Not in Switzerland, at least. That gap became the seed of Bel Nada.

That moment became the seed of something bigger, a brand designed to make alcohol-free drinking feel just as elevated as its traditional counterpart.

The Gap in the Market: “Why Doesn’t This Feel Premium?”

Rebecca’s frustration grew from one key observation: while alcohol-free choices were increasing, many still felt like an afterthought. There were plenty of soft drinks and substitutes, but very few that truly mirrored the sophistication of a well-crafted aperitif.

Bel Nada was created to fill that gap, to offer alcohol-free spirits that look beautiful in the glass, taste genuinely complex, and feel worthy of celebration.

Rebecca explains:
Everything felt like a consolation prize. You’d ask for something alcohol-free and be handed a sparkling water with a slice of lemon, or a sickly-sweet mocktail that tasted like cordial. There was nothing that felt considered, nothing that said we designed this for you, not as an afterthought. What was missing was craftsmanship. A real flavour story. A bottle you’d be proud to put on the table. I wanted Bel Nada to feel like a premium choice, not a compromise. That meant Swiss-made, natural botanicals, low sugar, clean ingredients and packaging that looked as good as it tasted. I didn’t want people to feel like they were opting out of something. I wanted them to feel like they were opting into something better.

Swiss Roots and the Ritual of Apéro

Inspired by the landscapes of the Swiss Alps and the timeless tradition of European apéro culture, Bel Nada captures something many alcohol-free brands overlook drinking isn’t just about the alcohol, it’s about the moment.

It’s about slowing down, sharing something special, and feeling part of a ritual. Bel Nada leans into that lifestyle with botanical flavours designed to feel fresh, elegant, and distinctly European.

Rebecca shares how she translated this into the brand:
Apéro culture isn’t really about alcohol, it never was. It’s about slowing down, gathering, being present with the people around you. The ritual matters: the sound of the bottle opening, the pour, the garnish, holding something beautiful in your hands. I was very deliberate about designing for that moment. The bottles are weighted, considered, worth displaying. The flavours, Le Botanique with its Swiss pine and juniper, L’Aperitivo with grapefruit, rose and lavender & L’Epicé with pineapple & coconut, are complex enough that you savour them rather than just drink them. When you serve a Bel Nada at a dinner table, it doesn’t feel like an apology. It feels like a contribution. That was always the goal.

18 Months in the Making: Craftsmanship Without Compromise

Creating an alcohol-free aperitif that still feels indulgent is no small task. Rebecca spent more than 18 months collaborating with award-winning Swiss drinks developers, crafting flavour profiles designed to deliver depth, balance and sophistication without relying on alcohol for structure.

It’s a meticulous process, requiring careful attention to botanicals, mouthfeel, and aftertaste, ensuring each drink still feels “grown-up” and celebratory.

Rebecca reveals what surprised her most during development:
The honest answer? Almost everything. Creating a non-alcoholic drink that feels genuinely adult is far harder than it sounds. Alcohol does a lot of the work in a traditional spirit, it carries flavour, creates body, delivers that warming finish. Without it, you must rebuild all of that from scratch using botanicals, and the margins are incredibly narrow. Too much of one thing and it tastes medicinal. Too little and it’s flat. I spent a long time on the mouthfeel, that sensation of something happening as you drink it. The Swiss pine in Le Botanique was a breakthrough moment. It brought a natural resinous depth that I hadn’t found anywhere else, and it rooted the drink in a sense of place. That felt important. It took well over a year before I felt ready. I wasn’t willing to rush it.

The Bel Nada Collection: Three Signature Aperitifs

Bel Nada launches in the UK with three distinct alcohol-free expressions, each crafted for modern drinking rituals, whether that’s a dinner party, a summer garden gathering, or simply an evening wind-down that doesn’t come with a headache.

L’Aperitive

An aromatic and floral spritz-style alternative with notes of grapefruit, rose, lavender, and rosemary. Light, elegant, and perfect served over ice with a citrus garnish.

Le Botanique

A crisp alpine-inspired gin alternative featuring juniper, Swiss pine, and herbal botanicals — refreshing, clean, and ideal for a classic G&T-style serve.

L’Épicé

A tropical and spice-led 0% rum alternative, crafted for deeper, warming serves. Richer on the palate, this one is designed for alcohol-free cocktails with real complexity.

Luxury with a Conscience

Bel Nada isn’t only focused on what’s inside the bottle. The brand is designed and bottled entirely in Switzerland, using carefully selected botanicals and low-impact production methods. With recyclable packaging and mindful sourcing, sustainability is a key part of the brand’s identity.

In an era where conscious consumers want their choices to align with their values, Bel Nada offers an alcohol-free option that feels both luxurious and responsible.

Rebecca explains what sustainability means to her in practice:
It was non-negotiable from day one. If I was going to build something I was proud of, it had to be responsible, that wasn’t a marketing decision, it was a values decision. In practice, “low-impact luxury” means being rigorous about the choices no one else sees. Glass bottles made with 30% recycled glass. Labels printed on 100% recycled paper. No plastic. No sodium benzoate. Natural flavouring and colouring, sourced as locally as possible, our Swiss pine and juniper come from Valais, right here in Switzerland. We also track our water usage and carbon footprint through our production partners so we can keep improving. True sustainability isn’t a one-time box you tick. It’s a commitment to keep asking whether you can do better. For a premium brand, it also makes sense: people who are making conscious choices about what they put in their bodies tend to care deeply about what they put on the planet. The two things go hand in hand.

Bel Nada in the UK: A New Chapter for the NoLo Movement

Already gaining recognition in Switzerland for its vibrant branding and premium flavour profiles, Bel Nada is now arriving in the UK at a time when the NoLo movement is booming and when more people are looking for alcohol-free drinks that still feel special.

With plans to grow within the on-trade and retail market, Bel Nada is positioning itself as one of Europe’s most exciting new names in the alcohol-free space.

Because ultimately, Bel Nada isn’t just about replacing alcohol, it’s about reclaiming the joy of the moment.

And for anyone who still wants the ritual, the elegance, and the celebration of apéro culture… this Swiss newcomer might be the perfect pour.

Bel Nada proves that mindful drinking doesn’t have to mean missing out — it can mean drinking beautifully.
