Discovering The Power of Traditional Ingredients in a Modern World

Ancient Extracts Review: Discovering The Power of Traditional Ingredients in a Modern World.

I have always been fascinated by the world of wellness products.

Every year there seems to be a new ingredient promising to transform our health, energy or daily routines. Some become overnight trends, some disappear almost as quickly as they arrive, and others quietly become products that you genuinely want to keep using.

For me, the interesting question is always the same: does this product actually bring something different to my routine, or is it simply another clever piece of marketing?

That is why Ancient Extracts caught my attention.

At first glance, the brand sits within the growing wellness market, with beautiful natural ingredients and products that tap into current trends such as adaptogens, mushroom drinks and alternative coffees. But what stood out to me was the reason behind the brand.

Ancient Extracts was created from frustration with the wellness industry, particularly products that rely on big promises, trendy language and unclear ingredients. Their aim is to take traditionally valued ingredients and combine them with modern testing, careful sourcing and transparency.

And that is something I think many of us are looking for.

We are becoming much more aware of what we put into our bodies. We read labels, question ingredients and want to understand why something deserves a place in our kitchen cupboard.

I was lucky enough to try two products from Ancient Extracts: their Ritual Grade Ube Powder and their Morning Magic Mushroom Coffee.

Both are very different, but both share the same philosophy, taking ingredients that have been used traditionally and making them accessible for modern lifestyles.

Purple Ube Powder: The Colourful Alternative to Your Usual Latte

I must admit that the first thing that attracted me to the Ube Powder was the colour!

The vibrant purple shade is unlike anything else sitting in my kitchen cupboard, and it immediately makes whatever you create with it feel a little more special.

Ube (pronounced oo-bae) is a purple yam traditionally used in Filipino and Southeast Asian cuisine, particularly in desserts and sweet dishes. Ancient Extracts has taken this naturally colourful ingredient and turned it into a finely milled powder that can easily be added to everyday recipes.

What makes it particularly interesting is that it is naturally caffeine-free.

We are all familiar with matcha’s rise in popularity, but for anyone who enjoys the ritual of a beautiful latte without wanting caffeine, Ube offers something completely different.

How I Used It

The obvious place to start was an Ube latte.

Simply mixing the powder with warm water before adding milk creates a creamy, colourful drink with a naturally sweet flavour. It has gentle vanilla-like notes, which makes it feel like a treat without needing lots of added sweetness.

I also experimented with adding it to smoothies, yoghurt bowls and baking. It works particularly well when you want to add colour and a slightly sweet flavour without relying on artificial colours or flavours.

What I like about ingredients like this is that they encourage you to be a little more creative in the kitchen.

It turns something ordinary into something you actually look forward to making.

Morning Magic Mushroom Coffee: A Different Way to Start the Day

The second product I tried was the Morning Magic Mushroom Coffee.

Now, I am someone who enjoys coffee. The morning ritual, the smell and that first cup of the day are all things I appreciate. So, I was curious whether a mushroom coffee alternative could actually deliver the experience I enjoy.

The good news?

It still tastes like coffee.

This is probably the biggest surprise.

Sometimes alternative drinks can feel like they are asking you to compromise. You try them because they are “good for you”, but you miss the original.

Ancient Extracts’ Morning Magic Mushroom Coffee has a rich roasted flavour with subtle cocoa notes, gentle bitterness and a smooth finish. Importantly, there is no overpowering mushroom taste, something that may put many people off trying these types of products.

What Is In It?

The blend combines:

Decaffeinated Arabica coffee

Lion’s Mane

Cordyceps

Chaga

Ashwagandha

Maca root

Rhodiola

Cocoa powder

The idea is to create a gentler coffee experience while keeping the enjoyment of a proper coffee.

For me, this is where it works well.

I would not necessarily replace my morning coffee every day, but I can see this becoming a great option when I want the coffee ritual without quite as much caffeine.

Why Mushroom Coffee?

The rise of mushroom drinks is fascinating because it represents a wider change in how we think about wellness.

People are no longer just looking for quick fixes. We are looking for small, sustainable habits that support how we want to feel every day.

A product like this fits into that mindset.

It is not about promising miracles. It is about creating a more considered choice.

Would I Buy from Ancient Extracts?

This is always the question I come back to after reviewing a product.

Would I genuinely purchase it myself?

With Ancient Extracts, the answer is yes.

What impressed me most was not just the ingredients, although they are interesting, it was the company’s approach. There is a growing number of wellness products that rely heavily on trends, but Ancient Extracts feels much more focused on respecting traditional ingredients and making sure customers understand what they are buying.
