We Love Lashes

We Love Lashes

We Love Lashes – We may not have a fully booked diary or special date on the horizon with the COVID-19 and home isolation in place, but that is no excuse for not giving ourselves a little TLC and a girly pamper.

An hour relaxing in the sunshine, can do wonders for our general wellbeing, it can lift the spirits even just for a fleeting moment. A hot soak in the bath can soothe the mind as well as those aching muscles. A gripping book can certainly take you to a new level.

This unprecedented time has given us an opportunity to incorporate a moment of wellbeing, to slow down our busy schedule, reline our thoughts and incorporate new things we may love in our day.

Learning a new skill is on my agenda. However, being one to dabble in the beauty world, mastering the art of false eyelash application has been one skill I have not yet mastered.

To be honest, this could be for numerous reasons:

Too Lazy

Too fiddly

Not enough time

Well these common myths have been busted by a recent blog I read here

This has opened my eyes to a new world in the beauty arena and now for the right occasion I am fully converted.

Long eyelashes are considered a sign of beauty and youth in many cultures, which is why many people enhance their eyelash length artificially.

The main purpose of eyelashes is to protect your eyes. Both men and women have been interested in curling, lengthening, volumising and darkening their eyelashes for years, to open and accentuate their eyes for beauty purposes,

There have been many eyelash trends in the past as to what looks good when it comes to eyelashes. However, eyelashes do have the impressive ability to transform your face creating the illusion of beautiful wide, gazing eyes.

Are you a Lash Queen?

To find what works for you, FalseEyelashes.co.uk – is the UK’s largest false lash stockist. They stock exclusive brands from all over the world as well as well-known everyday brands. From dramatic to natural styles there’s a lash for everyone and for convenience you can order online.

Understanding your eye shape will help you work out the best lashes to suite you. Just like choosing a hairstyle to match your face shape, different false eyelash styles can enhance your eyes, or even change the shape of your eyes completely.

There are six most common eye shapes to consider when determining what your eye shape, but I have added a couple more just to cover a wider audience: monolids, round eyes, almond eyes, downturned eyes, upturned eyes, hooded eyes, protruding and deep-set eyes.

Mono-Lidded Eyes – (or epicanthic folds as they’re technically termed)

are where the skin covers the upper eyelid and no crease is visible.

Here you have pretty much an open canvas when it comes to lash style. Go for drama with fluttery, multi-layered lashes to open the eye, paired with winged eyeliner to subtly emphasize your lash line.

Round eyes – If you can see most of your iris, then you have round eyes. Round eyes have amazing dimension! This shape should use curly lashes to lift and enhance the curve of your top lid or wispy and winged eyelashes creating a gorgeous cat’s eye shape that will open your eyes out even more.

Avoid heavy, voluminous lashes that make your eye look smaller and flatter.

Almond Eyes – slightly pointed at the ends, with a wider centre where the curve of the iris is hidden by the upper and lower lids. Almond eyes are the most universal shape and are blessed with versatility – a wide variety of false eyelashes will work for you. Show off the shape of your eyes by adding volume with full lashes that are evenly distributed.

Upturned Eyes – this is where the outer corners point higher than the inner corners. Upturned eyes are another incredibly versatile eye shape.3D lashes that gradually increase in length towards the outer edges, in a classic winged shape, will best emphasize this natural, catlike shape.

Downturned Eyes – are that captivating and dramatic. False eyelashes that are too dense and heavy will only highlight the downturn, so for a more modern look, stick with lashes that are wispy and natural-looking. Try lashes with the longest lashes at the center of the eye, they will provide a subtle all-over lift to your entire eye.

Hooded Eyes – have a crease with a prominent brow bone so the eyelid is not clearly visible when the eye is open, giving you a sultry and mysterious look.

The wrong lashes can pull hooded eyes down and make them look small. Try a fluttery mix with long lashes directly above the pupil to really open the eye at the centre.

Protruding Eyes – recede deeply into the face. Enhance with a dramatic, feathery false lash for a beautiful soft look.

Deep set eyes – sit under the brown bone and lashes are perfect to accentuate these lovely large eyes.

Look for extra length lashes that curl up and away from the eye – this avoids unsightly mascara smudges on the brown bone too.

So, if you have a moment to spare give some thought to your lashes…
