We at Women Talking are big fans of Claire Clark so it didn’t take more than a whiff of her latest project to get us very excited.
Starting on Monday 13th September and running for two months only, she will be taking over part of the fifth floor at Harvey Nichols with some of her most indulgent and unique creations ever.
This is the first time Claire’s cakes will be available outside of the restaurants and hotels she has worked in and the “pop-up” installation has been specially created by renowned designer and art director Fiona Leahy.
Prior to this, as many of our readers will know, Claire forged a successful career at The French Laundry, the three Michelin starred restaurant in California, Sandy Lane in Barbados and The Wolseley, Claridges, The Ritz and the House of Commons here in the UK.
Taking inspiration from childhood favourites, Claire has created a wonderful selection of nostalgic treats for her pop up patisserie.
Using only the finest ingredients, such as Amedei 70% Toscano Black chocolate for the Jaffa cake macaroons, Claire has turned simple biscuits into something luxurious and irresistible.
The patisserie selection will include: Fizzy strawberry marshmallows, Toffee bark with salted pecans, Mint rocky road, Chocolate covered honeycomb and Caramel corn. Traditional loaf cakes including Orange, pistachio and semolina cake and Rhubarb and spelt cake will be available in smaller sizes.
In addition, Claire Clark is also creating a truly exceptional Afternoon Tea as a celebration of the world's most fashionable cities, with New York, London, Paris and Milan inspired sandwiches, freshly made scones served from a dessert trolley with a selection of jams and, of course, an exquisite selection of cakes:
Bubblegum Marshmallow Pavlova
Rose and Raspberry Éclair
Pistachio, Passion Fruit Pain de gene
Lemon Madeira Cake
Jaffa Cake Macaroon
Warm Chocolate Cherry Cake
Peanut Butter S'Mores
The intense Bubblegum Marshmallow Pavlova, a must-try explosion of flavour, is a softly peaked meringue, baked crisp on the outside and gooey on the inside. The base is filled with bubblegum pastry cream and sat on a thin disc of white chocolate with colourful sprinkles.
The Lemon Madeira Cake, subtler but equally delicious: an individual pound cake made with fresh lemon zest and with a hidden centre of lemon curd and a lemon balm crème diplomat.
A special bespoke tea blend, with an Earl Grey base and a light fragrant lavender note has been created to complement the afternoon tea and will also be available to purchase from the Foodmarket at £3.95 for 125g.
The Claire Clark Afternoon Tea, presented on a fun 'pop-up' menu will be available at the newly refurbished Fifth Floor Restaurant for a limited period between Monday, 13 and Sunday, 26 September, priced at £35 or at £45 with a glass of Harvey Nichols Champagne. To book a table, please contact 020 7235 5250.
The Claire Clark Patisserie will be open in the Fifth Floor Foodmarket from Monday, 13 September to Thursday, 18 November.
