Countdown to Christmas – Fashion – Buying clothing is one of the most popular options when selecting a Christmas or personal gift for a loved one, especially since is there plenty of variety available on the high street as well as online.

It might seem overwhelming at first but buying someone clothing as a gift is very straightforward when you know-how. It’s a chance to have fun, be creative, and find a useful and meaningful gift.

With a few tips and a little thought, you can be sure that your purchase will be put to good use, and the recipient will wear it repeatedly.

When deciding how to choose you must first assess numerous basics.

Style – take the time to think about the style the recipient loves, whether modern, classic, retro.

Think about colours, prints and fabrics – what best suits the person in mind, if you are not sure, select a neutral option.

Are you purchasing one item or making up a set, this could be depicted also by your budget?

Sizing – if in doubt always keep a gift receipt for any unwanted returns.

Co-Co Shawl Scarf from Lacorine – Looking for luxury? This fashion accessory is made from Silky soft 100% pure, first shearing baby alpaca fibre, Offering the maximum in warmth and glamour.

Lacorine clothing is designed by founder Antonia Jacob and handmade in Peru by highly skilled artisans who live in remote villages, using skills that have been passed down through generations.

Lacorine fur derives from alpacas that have died naturally during the harsh Peruvian Winters when many young crias are overcome by the conditions. This is a great loss to the herdsmen whose livelihoods depend on the alpaca fleeces produced throughout the animal’s life.

Unique island Fashion accessories

These handmade, embroidered products offer ‘one of a kind’ pieces, created by a woman’s sewing cooperative in Madagascar.

Made from recycled cotton, each individual item is totally unique and offers a stunning presentation with real purpose. Made by the women of the Stitch Sainte Luce cooperative, the items’ sales bring in valuable income for families in Madagascar; who need our support now more than ever, as 1.15 million people on the island face starvation, due to the world’s first climate change famine.

Stitch Sainte Luce, supported by the charity SEED Madagascar, has taught embroidery, as well as business skills in maths, sales and English language, to over 100 women. Alongside value incomes, the cooperative has also helped empower women, giving them a creative and social outlet and building self-confidence.

Take a look at their handmade embroidered glasses or iPhone cases on Etsy. Each piece is completely unique as each item is made by the women of the Cooperative and is individually designed and hand-stitched. Every item comes with a name and ID tag detailing the identity of the embroiderer.
