How to Make the Season Yours

Autumn & Winter Fashion 2024: How to Make the Season Yours.

OK, fashion lovers—let’s talk about how to nail autumn and winter 2024 with style that’s not just on trend but feels right for you. It’s all about embracing those layers, making bold statements with textures, and, of course, wrapping yourself in the kind of coziness that only Autumn can bring. Whether you’re stepping into the office, going for a cozy brunch, or a night out, this season’s fashion is here to keep you chic, comfortable, and confident.

So, let’s check out just what’s hot and how to wear it—because when it comes to style, you know the rules: it’s about finding what works for you, your body shape, your skin tone, your budget and making it yours!

  1. Earthy Tones with a Punch

First up: Colours. Think of autumn/winter as your chance to get intimate with those rich, earthy tones—deep rusts, sienna, burgundy, mossy greens, and warm browns that make you feel grounded. But here’s the twist for 2024: don’t shy away from bold pops of colour. This season, vibrant blues, fiery reds, and even neon greens are strutting their stuff in a major way. You don’t have to go head-to-toe in a wild hue—just add those accents with a bold scarf, a standout bag, or a pair of statement shoes. The key is to play with the contrasts and find balance.

  1. Texture is the New Black

Texture is where it gets really fun this season. Layer up, mix it up, and let your fabrics do the talking. From cozy knits to sleek leathers, it’s about creating contrast and depth in your outfit.

  • Chunky knitwear: Think oversized, cozy sweaters, vests, and cardigans. These are the pieces you’ll want to live in.
  • Faux /Leather: Whether you go for an oversized leather blazer, with jeans or a pair of trousers, or a long line knitted/denim/wool skirt, this material is making a serious comeback. And if you’re eco-conscious, there are tons of high-quality faux leathers that feel just as luxe.
  • Shearling and wool: Soft, warm, and totally chic. It’s all about combining the softness of shearling with the structured shape of your outerwear. Looks great over a denim jacket for extra warmth and style.

Mixing fabrics is the perfect way to create a visually interesting look that’s both stylish and functional.

  1. Sustainability

We’re all about being chic and eco-conscious. In 2024, sustainable fashion is more than just a buzzword—it’s a movement. Whether you’re eyeing pieces made from recycled fabrics or organic materials, it’s easy to make eco-friendly choices without sacrificing style. Look for upcycled garments or timeless pieces made to last—because when it comes to fashion, we’re not just thinking about how good we look, but how good we feel knowing we’re making a difference.

  1. Outerwear: Make It Dramatic

Outerwear is your moment to shine this season. A great coat doesn’t just keep you warm—it transforms your entire outfit.

  • Maxi coats & trench coats: Long, oversized, and dramatic. These are the power pieces you’ll want to have on hand. Clinched at the waist with a hard leather belt and a great buckle, gives shape and a cool accent, or just oversized and enveloping, whichever you choose you’re good to go.
  • Puffer jackets: Elevated puffers are here in either a matte finish or shiny and in all lengths. These are your go-to for staying warm while keeping things effortlessly cool and are both very easy to throw on for maximum comfort and maximum warmth.
  • Tailored blazers: Oversized and either double or single breasted, a wool blazer adds a more polished, yet laid-back vibe. Trust me, it’s a versatile piece that can take you from day to night.

Don’t forget—outerwear is the piece that will set the tone for your entire look. Make it count.

  1. Footwear: Statement or Function? Why Not Both?

This year’s footwear trends are all about comfort and style. Chunky boots are still the reigning champ, but don’t overlook loafers and mules.

  • Chunky boots: Whether they’re knee-high or ankle length, lug-soled boots are the must-have this season. They’re practical, edgy, and give any outfit that tough-lux feel.
  • Loafers: Slip into a pair of elevated, chunky loafers with a bold chain detail or faux-fur lining. Perfect for those days when you want to be chic, but still comfy. And don’t forget the perfect socks to finish the look. I’m not a fan of white socks, although very popular. Personally, I prefer an argyle sock, spot or stripe.
  • Faux-fur-lined slides: Think of these as your go-to indoor/outdoor option. Easy, cozy, and the perfect finishing touch to a winter-ready look.
  1. Accessories: The Finishing Touches

Accessories are your chance to get creative. They don’t just complete an outfit—they make it. This season, go big with bold statement pieces, or keep it simple and minimal—whatever feels right for you.

  • Bags: Mini bags are still in, but let’s not forget about oversized, slouchy styles that are perfect for every day. Go for leather for longevity or eco-friendly alternatives.
  • Scarves & shawls: Wrap yourself in something soft and luxurious this season. Cashmere and wool are your friends here. Go for long, extra-wide styles that can be draped in different ways. Personally, if my neck is warm I’m happy.
  • Hats: Wide-brim wool hats are a huge vibe right now. Neutral tones like camel, beige, and charcoal are trending, adding an elegant touch to any outfit.
  • Jewellery: Chunky chains, oversized hoops, and layered rings are your best friends for this season. The bolder, the better. It’s all about those statement pieces.
  1. Retro Redux: A 90s Revival

We’re not just feeling nostalgic—we’re living it. 90s-inspired fashion is back in full force this fall and winter. Whether it’s high-waisted trousers, slip skirts, or oversized blazers, there’s no shortage of pieces that scream effortless cool. Early 2000s vibes are also coming into play, with cargo pants and sportier looks making a return. But don’t worry, these aren’t the old school styles you remember—they’re updated with modern tailoring and fresh details.

  1. Menswear-Inspired Looks

Androgynous tailoring is where things get really exciting for 2024. Whether you’re a fan of sharp lines and structured shapes or prefer a more relaxed fit, menswear-inspired pieces are where it’s at. Think oversized blazers, wide-legged trousers, and button-down shirts worn loose and easy. These pieces are perfect for mixing with softer, more feminine items to create balance.

The Bottom Line?

This season is all about self-expression. Layer up with textures, play with colour, and don’t forget to have fun with your accessories. It’s the perfect time to experiment with different styles, materials, and silhouettes. Whether you lean into bold statements or prefer something a bit more subtle, autumn/winter 2024 is here to give you the freedom to create outfits that make you feel amazing—inside and out.

Remember, fashion is about feeling your best and finding your personal style, not just following trends. So go ahead—mix those textures, rock those bold colours, and own the season in style.
