The Hercules HD Twist Webcam

Webcams come in all shapes and sizes and Hercules have clearly put fun and image at the top of their list of initiatives with the HD Twist.

In their efforts to make techno cool, Hercules have offered up a webcam that they want us to believe is as much a fashion accessory as it is a piece of kit.

Whilst the doubters amongst you might believe quality has been compromised in favour of price, we’re happy to report that the HD Twist is a brilliant piece of kit.

Small in size, flexible and with an HD 720p resolution, you can expect good quality video at 30 frames a second as well as 5 megapixels from still images.

It has also been designed and optimized for the most popular instant messaging applications, this kit is clearly aimed at a younger demographic.

If you want a webcam that is anything but boring – it comes in a range of colours – then look no further then the HD Twist.

Competitively priced in the £20+ range, this remains another worthy addition to their popular canon of products.

Speakers can be an essential component to any computer set up and as anyone with a laptop will tell you, with a few exceptions, the audio quality you can expect from your portable machine usually falls far short of what you might expect.

If you have a state of the art processor and high end graphics cards inside your computer then why not give it a sound quality to match?

The Hercules XPS speakers offer high quality sound with an attractive arched shape that makes them appealing to look at.

Thankfully the sound matches the aesthetics and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the audio performance.

Powered by USB means you are somewhat limited to what you can plug them into, although I was able to connect my Xbox and PS3, with decent results.

Magnetically shielded  (as you would expect) with volume control, standby and line input if you are looking for something that looks and sounds a lot better than it deserves to for the price (you can pick these up for as little as £18 on the web) then these little gems could be right up your street!

The Hercules HD Sunset Webcam

It’s fair to say that almost every laptop on the market these days comes with a webcam so for you portable users, this might not be of interest.

However, those of you who like to build your own base units or might be in possession of the Apple Mini Mac’s, the Hercules HD Sunset could be an excellent option.

Offering 720p resolution and featuring a built in microphone ensures your video calls are of the highest quality and any video capture you might be doing will be smooth, bright and colourful, even in low light conditions.

Hercules also claim it comes with automatic face tracking technology and is equipped with a 3x digital zoom, as well as a generous 6ft USB cable that means you don’t have to plug it directly into the source.

It also comes with some pretty impressive software that allows you to choose your photo capture modes, perform single shot or multi burst modes and has a self timer mode.

Attractively priced in the £20 price range once again you get a lot of quality for very little outlay.
