Walking with Dinosaurs at Thinktank
The Thinktank museum in Birmingham
The Legolabs at Thinktank
Let’s face it! Children love dinosaurs and this summer, Thinktank – the rather fun and fascinating museum of science and discovery – has gone all prehistoric with its Walking With Dinosaurs Exhibition, which runs daily until Monday 31st August.
The BBC’s successful Walking With Dinosaurs series has been brought back to life with an exhibition that explores the science and technology behind the award-winning show and allows visitors to “walk with dinosaurs”.
Full-sized dinosaur models have been specially created so that people can see these prehistoric wonders up close and every day throughout the summer holidays families can enjoy a wide range of themed events and activities.
Catering for all ages, there is the new Dinosaur Busting Myth’s Family Science Show and children also get the chance to become real life dinosaur hunters and uncover their own fossils and artefacts in Thinktank’s palaeontological “Dino Dig”.
Young visitors can also enjoy “Finding Lio”, a story-telling session specifically developed for the under 8s. Little ones can join Lio the Liopleurodon, a prehistoric marine reptile, on an exciting journey through the oceans. At the high tech LEGO Robo Lab, kids can animate their own dinosaur film using LEGO stop-frame technology.
Finally, over at the IMAX cinema there are daily showings of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince which is being shown in 3D.
All in all this is a wonderful and varied day out and as Thinktank is Birmingham’s award winning science museum, there is plenty to see with over 200 hands-on exhibits set out over 4 floors for everyone to enjoy.
The Walking with Dinosaurs exhibition is open daily from 10:00am to 5:00pm and is free to Thinktank ticket holders.
