Camfed - Ghana

A report in the Financial Times names Camfed, who have twice featured in the FT's seasonal appeal, as a recipient of funds from the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Women initiative. The 10,000 Women initiative is intended to help women engaged in small businesses in the developing world.

Goldman Sachs research indicates:

'That closing the gender gap in employment in key emerging markets could lift per capita income 10-14 per cent above baseline forcasts by 2020.

Higher levels of female education could have raised gross domestic product growth rates in emerging markets by 0.2% over the past 10 years.'
