“Mind the Gap” follows the lives of working women in London and through a combination of interviews, observation and statistics identifies the positives and negative experiences they face today. By 2016, seven out of ten new London jobs will be filled by women, therefore the issues examined by the film are not just about achieving equality of the sexes but also recognising the increasing importance of women in the London economy.
The Mayor of London’s annual work programme ‘Women in London’s Economy’, now in its fourth year, highlights the important contribution women make to the capital’s economy. It identifies the crucial measures needed to tackle the discrimination faced by women and eliminate the barriers preventing them from participating fully in London’s economic life.
Women in London’s Economy also offers a major forum for London’s women to discuss and examine their place in the economy, as well as an opportunity for employers to demonstrate best practice and forward thinking on women at work.
