Unseen energies exist all around us, perhaps underground water sources, geological faults or other earth disturbances. Although unseen they can affect our homes and how comfortable we feel in them, where we lie in bed, how refreshed we feel in the morning and even how lucky we are.
Feng Shui is one way of harnessing the power of these energies. Understanding the ancient art of placement- from where we choose to live to how we fill our surroundings - is basically an environmental science originating from the Far East and dating back centuries. Feng Shui tells us how to create environments in which we feel comfortable and supported but it also helps us manipulate resources to our best advantage.
Before even deciding where to live we can check for unseen energies. For example if trees lean for no reason, they may be situated on a geopathic stress line. The word “geopathic” comes from the Greek geo, meaning “earth” whilst pathos, takes its meaning from “disease”. It covers naturally occurring phenomena that cause problems for us and our homes. The earth and living organisms vibrate at complementary frequencies, negatively affected by geopathic faults. Dowsing rods help a Feng Shui consultant to detect these problems, which a property surveyor may miss.
Dowsing, sometimes called divining, attempts to locate hidden water wells, buried metals or ores, gemstones and other objects that emit "currents of earth radiation". Many dowsers use a pair of simple L-shaped metal rods, and some use bent wire, coat hangers or even twigs. One rod is held in each hand, with the short part of the L held upright, and the long part pointing forward. The rods cross when they detect, for example, underground water. Although underground water creates magical places, you don’t want it under your house.
Geopathic stress can be attributed as a possible cause for sustained periods of unexplained sickness and experienced dowsers can detect these energies and, in some instances, divert the negative channels away, at least temporarily. Many people can detect water with rods or pendulums, but experience is needed to deal with earth energies and protection is needed to minimize the ill effects. It is best to move away from such energies and the solution can be as easy as simply moving a bed.
Underground streams produce energy spirals, felt inside any building directly overhead. Where a clockwise spiral meets an anti-clockwise spiral, ill health may be experienced by people liiving above. Where a spiral meets other forces, such as leys, the problems can be accentuated.
Leylines are a network of surface energy lines running across the globe. Our distant ancestors may have built their churches and standing stones on these lines, performing an “acupuncture of the earth” as they tapped into its energy. It is believed the leys also provided routes for travellers as well as animals like birds. Many scientific studies have revealed that birds base their migration flights around these magnetic fields.
Throughout our lives, we are exposed to radiation, mainly from the sun. Exposure over long periods to higher than normal levels may make us ill. Leukemia and birth defects have been linked to exposure to radon, which occurs naturally in uranium in the earth. As the uranium breaks down, it forms radioactive ions which attach themselves to air particles that become trapped inside houses. Some regions in the world have recorded levels of radioactivity in excess of those recorded after the Chernobyl disaster. Pockets of high incidence have been found in Sweden and the United States as well as in Derbyshire and Cornwall in Great Britain.
We also have force lines and magnetic fields to contend with. At the point where these lines cross it may adversely affect the human body. Human activity can also upset the earth’s energies. Quarries, tunnels, mines, polluted water and railways have all been found to contribute negative effects. Before erecting or buying a house, check for any mining or tunnelling that may have taken place in the area.
Stress indicators may include cankers on trees, elder trees, illness shortly after moving, uneasy atmospheres and cold, damp rooms. These unseen energies may have far reaching consequences and certain sensations we feel may not be always healed at the hands of the doctor and could require intervention of a different type…
